Finally, Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, spoke on the death of his younger brother, Alhaji Sani Dangote. The deceased, who was the vice president of Dangote Group of Companies, died on Sunday, November 14, in the United States after a long illness. Welcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his residence in Kano on Friday, November 19, Dangote said their mother and Sani children were at the scene.
He said he was more agitated when doctors told them his brother had about an hour left before he died, the Daily Trust reported."It was painful because he died in front of me, in front of our mother and the children," Dangote said. He said he himself was heartbroken to see his brother's soul leaving the body by machine at the hospital.
He thanked Tinubu for his visit, saying he enjoyed the long-standing brotherly relationship with Tinubu's family. Dangote said the uncertainty associated with death was the reason why one always wanted to do good deeds. He added: "The way people are coming in is amazing.“The visit will help us alleviate the pain especially for me because we grew up together.
"It hurt us a lot when they told us he was going to die in a few hours and we had to watch how his last breath came out."In his condolence message, Tinubu described the deceased as a Lagos native and a great Nigerian. Tinubu also explained that money does not buy life and there is nothing one can do when the time comes, Vanguard reports. He called on the family of the deceased to be patient and continue to pray for his recovery.
