Nigeria Plunged Into Poverty, Insecurity And lack Of Good Governance - Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, claims that the country has plunged into poverty, insecurity, and a lack of decent government. On Thursday in Kaduna, Atiku made the statements during a lecture organized by the Arewa Media and Development Forum (AMDF). However, he went on to say that a unified Nigeria is only conceivable if Nigerians are treated fairly and equally across the board.

The president stated that all Nigerians were confronted with difficulties, and that "only through unity can we overcome and overcome the issues that we are facing."Speaking on the topic of 'Unity in Diversity,' which was presented by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, the former vice president stated that all Nigerians should be treated equally under the law.

"Language is a key source of division; thus, I propose that the constitution be amended to make it mandatory for every Nigerian to learn at least one more language from another area of the country, in order for us to be able to unite and appreciate the things we have in common.""One of our adversaries has no idea if someone is from the South or the North, a Muslim or a Christian," Atiku continued. Our opponents will stick to us if we maintain our independence. We will only be able to escape if we all work together.

"Your strength lies in your unity; as long as you remain unified, no harm can come to us." In the same way that pigeons get stuck in poverty, instability, backwardness, and a lack of effective government, the only thing that can save us from this snare is for us to band together. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Commission voiced fear that the unification of Nigeria will have a selfish influence on the people of the state.

Emmanuel observed that there is more division than unity among Nigerians today, as opposed to the days when any Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity or religion, could win an election in the country.

He suggested that people need to come together as a melting pot, where names are still being assessed but tastes are blended, "where, as stated in the earliest song of our nation's history, 'despite the tribal and linguistic differences, in your brothers we stand.'"

"What we are witnessing today is a country in which ethnic groups are telling their own stories, and where the voices of conflict have made it difficult for us to hear ourselves.""We must ensure that there is equity and justice throughout the country and that no part of the country is left on its knees since that will be detrimental to our organization," he continued.
