 Kano State Court Suspends Construction Of Shops In Wambai Market

A Kano State High Court has suspended the construction of shops in Wambai Market in the Municipal Local Government Area of ​​Kano State. Earlier, traders protested against the construction of the shops after the government started laying the bricks. Traders have complained that if the shops are built, it will disrupt their trade because the government-built line is the main stop for trucks to load goods to other parts of the country. As the government ignored their demands for the building, the business community went to court to seek redress.

Hearing a complaint filed by the business community on Friday, Judge Aisha Ya'u ordered the government to suspend construction until both parties were heard. She also instructed both sides to stop and take a stand on the building. The court took this decision after receiving its appeal on December 17.

The judge adjourned the hearing to January 24, 2022.
