 The Kano State Government will implement the anti-smoking law in 2022

 The Kano State Government has said that by 2022, smoking will be banned across the state.

The Director General of the State Ministry of Tourism, Yusuf Ibrahim Lajawa, disclosed this to newsmen in Kano on Thursday. Lajawa said this was a positive step in tackling the problem of illiteracy which did not lead to committing heinous acts that would affect young children.

The Director General announced that since November 3, the Kano State Governor has signed into law the Act which will come into force in 2022.“The law includes landlords renting rooms and barring children under the age of 18 from entering hotels.

"The law does not stop smoking, it also affects sellers." 

He also called on the community to give the ministry a hand in achieving this noble goal.
