Minister Pantami Bans Importing Telephone Lines From Foreign Countries
It was on Monday that we get the news that the federal government has announced a ban on the import of phone lines commonly known as SIM in the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, on Monday in Lagos.
The PM News newspaper said, Pantami said this at the National Telecommunication Companies Exhibition (NTICE) organized by the Nigerian Telecommunications Development Office (NODITS) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The minister made it clear that the government will not allow more SIM lines to be imported into the country.
Pantami explained that the nation is now manufacturing SIM phone lines locally, so there is no need to continue importing foreign ones.
According to him, the aim of the country is to increase the production of domestic items in the field of ICT so that by 2025 the people of the country will be self-reliant with at least 80% of domestic goods.
