Rapper, PnB Rock shot dead
PnB Rock, a rapper from Los Angeles, was shot and killed during a robbery in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the rapper best known for his 2016 hit "Selfish" was shot and killed on Monday afternoon at the Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles. Rock, who was 30 years old, was at the restaurant with his girlfriend, who posted a photo with the location tagged in an Instagram post that has since been deleted.
Kelly Muniz, a captain with the Los Angeles Police Department, confirmed that the robber pulled out a gun inside the restaurant and told the victim to give him things. The Times was told by sources that the item Rock was asked for was his jewelry. "The assailant shot the victim almost right away," Muniz said.
"He shot the victim, ran out the side door to a getaway car, and then left the parking lot," Muniz said the victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 1:59 p.m.
The police are currently looking at security footage from inside the restaurant to find the shooter. They are also checking nearby businesses to see if their security systems caught any images of the suspect leaving on foot or in a car. The Philadelphia rapper, whose real name is Rakim Hasheem Allen, has been on hits like "Everyday We Lit" with fellow rapper YFN Lucci in 2017 and "Dangerous" with rapper Meek Mill and singer Jeremih in 2018. "Everyday We Lit" reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 at number 33, and "Dangerous" reached the top at number 31.
On "Leave Em Alone," which came out in 2019, he worked with singer Layton Greene and rappers Lil Baby and the City Girls. On "Cross Me," he worked with Chance the Rapper and Ed Sheeran.
On September 2, his new song "Luv Me Again" came out.
