The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has yet again failed to comply with the summons by the House of Representatives to clarify its recent policies on the money laundering law.

On Tuesday, Emefiele was asked to appear before the parliament following the failure of the summons that the members of the parliament had issued in the first place as a result of an official activity he had done.

The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Edward Adamu, in a message he sent to the House of Representatives, told the House of Representatives that Emefiele is part of President Muhammadu Buhari's delegation to the meeting of African-American leaders, so he cannot appear.

After his absence, the members of parliament in their motion requested the CBN Governor to appear before the parliament on Tuesday, December 20.

The speaker of the parliament, Femi Gbajamiamila, after reading the announcement said that the invitation should be rescheduled for this Thursday.

In his decision, Gbajabiamila said that if the governor of the central bank of the CBN cannot appear on Thursday when he is expected, his deputy will represent him.
