The police in Jigawa arrested the woman who chased the baby she gave birth to
The Jigawa State Police said its officers arrested a woman named Balaraba Shehu from Tsurma village in Kiyawa local government on suspicion of burying her new born baby in the bathroom.
While confirming the incident to the BBC, the spokesperson of the state police force, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said that the result of intelligence received by their force led them to find the woman and dig up the baby outside the house.
"After giving birth, she went into the bathroom and dug a hole near the masai and buried the baby"
He said that after digging up the baby, he was rushed to Dutse General Hospital where doctors confirmed that he died.
DSP Shiisu Adam said the woman informed them that she got pregnant out of wedlock, and she revealed a boyfriend named Ahmadu Sale who is known as 'Dan Kwairo' who she said was the one who got her pregnant.
Until now, the 30-year-old woman and her 25-year-old boyfriend are in the hands of police officers.
The state police commissioner has already given the order to transfer the matter to the headquarters of the major crime investigation center of the force in Dutse state capital.
