Those who invite me to debate money are only asking me because they see that I have people - Tinubu
The presidential candidate of the ruling APC party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said those who invited him to the debate are only trying to use him to get money because he is a person with a lot of people.
The former governor of Lagos state said this at Chatham House in London on Monday, 24 hours after he rejected a debate attended by three candidates for the 2023 presidential election.
Responding to questions from the audience on why he abandoned the debate, Tinubu said, "I see myself as a people person. You want to use me to make money and I said no."
Regarding the controversy surrounding his age, education, and his time in the private sector, he said, "In the history of our family, I was born on March 29, 1952. Then, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu I did not even think that I would become the President of the Federation of Nigeria.", not to mention I said I will join politics.
"I have a good history even in the university where they ask about it, they just waste their time because everything is written in March 1952 and I was born.
"One of them was accused of not being a Nigerian, I do not say such things.
