He joined the People's Front fraction because he cared a lot about politics and was dedicated to it. The leader of the group was Shehu Musa Yar'Adua.
After Nigeria's defense minister, Sani Abacha, led a coup d'état on November 17, 1993, he had to leave the country.
Tinubu had said in an interview, "I disguised myself with a big turban and a babanriga, and I rode a motorcycle into Benin Republic." This was how he explained how he went into exile. The clothes were given to me by an old Hausa friend. When I showed up at Kudirat Abiola, she didn't even know I was the one! I gave her some information and some briefing. When he came back from exile in 1998, he quickly became well-known. In May 1999, he was named governor of Lagos state. He is famous all over the world because he made 37 LGAs in the state. He was governor for a good eight years!
What else? Because he hated the PDP, he did a lot to make sure that the APC candidates won the elections in 2015. The people in the north look up to him a lot because of this.
