Ali Nuhu, Rahaman Sadau, Churchill others star in the Netflix Hausa TV series
The first film in which all of the executive producers are from Northern Nigeria has broken a record in the film industry and has been shown on Netflix.
Because the characters in The Plan are able to speak both Hausa and English, it can appeal to a wider audience in Africa and beyond while portraying the culture of northern Nigeria.
According to Sefyna Mohammed, one of The Plan's executive producers, the series is the first Hausa film on Netflix with an entirely northern executive production team.
She claimed that they succeeded in achieving their goal of getting the TV show streaming on Netflix.
She claims that the film's main message is one of loyalty and trust.
She said, "I am so happy because the movie was supposed to come out in 2021.
One of the series' most important characters, Rosaline Meurer Churchill, stated that she was thrilled to be asked to appear in the film because Rahaman Sadau, the producer, is a close friend.
First of all, Rahaman Sadau is a very close friend of mine. When she called, I was in Ghana, and funny enough, I was pregnant in this movie but I didn't know it. The journey was sweet and sour, like not knowing that you are pregnant and having to deal with all these stresses.
Since I had never worked on a northern movie before, I was overjoyed when Sadau called. I'm so happy to have found the movie on Netflix.
"Trust is one thing that once it is broken, you can't fix it," she said. "Don't trust friends easily, don't trust anyone, and whatever you want to do, just do it yourself."
The TV series producer and actress Rahaman Sadau expressed her excitement about the movie's debut on Netflix, noting that it is a northern show that means a lot to her. "I am excited and I can't wait for the audience to see the movie," she said.
The Plan, according to Sadau, is very important to her and demonstrates how northerners are now telling their own stories on their own.
"The movie means a lot to northern Nigeria because it means that we are now telling our stories to the world audience and not just to ourselves," she said. "Not just the northern Nigeria, but Nollywood as a whole because any movie on a platform like this deserves an acknowledgment."
The film's co-star Ali Nuhu claimed that he played the role of Alhaji, around whom the entire narrative revolves.
He claimed that when asked to take part in the film series, he quickly read the script and expressed interest for a number of reasons.
"I just zeroed my mind and said I have to be in that movie because many factors were involved after reading the scripts before I could even finish. First and foremost, I like the plot because it is suspenseful and intriguing. Next, I like the setting because it is a typical northern setting, which is hard to find. Last but not least, Rahaman and I get along great; she's like my younger sister.
"I am proud of the project because it turned out that the final result is greater than I had expected; I never imagined it would be this substantial. I believe it is the one that will have an impact on northern Nigeria because we need the audience from northern Nigeria to be on a platform like this to see their own kind of thing, he said.
