Anyone who refuses to accept old money should be arrested, says the governor of Zamfara

 The Governor of Zamfara State, Muhammad Bello Matawalle, has ordered the arrest of all persons who refuse to accept old currency notes in the state.

 In a statement issued by the governor's press secretary, the governor said that the old currency notes will continue to be used until the time when the Supreme Court will give the final decision regarding the case brought by the three northern governors challenging the decision.

 Last week, the Governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara took the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Government to the Supreme Court on the issue of the deadline for using the country's old currency notes.

 Governor Matawalle gave the order while swearing in the State High Court Judges and his new special advisers in Gusau, the state capital.

 The governor said that he and his counterparts from Kaduna and Kogi states went to the Supreme Court, where they requested the court to issue an order to extend the period of use of the old currency notes.

 He added that "This action taken by the Supreme Court has helped to protect the country from falling into conflicts, which may affect the peace and stability of the country, which may affect the general election that is scheduled to be held in this country."  moon."

 The governor also expressed his happiness about the continued use of the country's old currency notes in business and daily transactions.

 "We thank God because people will continue to use the old currency notes in business to get their daily needs without any fear," said Matawalle.

 Last Friday, the Council of State held an emergency meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abuja, where it requested the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to produce more new currency notes for the benefit of the people.  the country

 According to the council, if the new currency will not be available, then the CBN will go back to giving the public the old currency notes.
