Yet it wasn't until 1997 that they became parents to a daughter they called Meghan, and then in 2000 to a son they named Connor. There they were, supporting one another while the coach's career took off.
As Payton took over as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, the family uprooted and settled in Mandeville. They were living a normal life until the Bountygate story broke. They were married for almost 20 years until they finally decided to separate.
In 2012, the couple petitioned a court in Tarrant County, Texas, for a divorce. Just a few months before their 20th wedding anniversary, they decided to divorce.
