Kathy Ambush - Meet Clarence Thomas’ First Wife

In the public eye, Kathy Ambush most prominently occupies the role of Thomas Clarence's wife. Kathy, though, has moved on with her life since her divorce from Jim several years ago.

In Kathy Ambush, Clarence Thomas found the love of his life and the mother of his sole child. While attending different universities, they eventually crossed paths.

Kathy tries very hard to keep her personal life and relationships out of the spotlight, but as a prominent personality in the United States, it's only natural that people would be interested in learning more about her background and the dynamics of her former relationships. As for Kathy Ambush, what do we know about her?

WHO IS KATHY AMBUSH?

On June 6, 1950, Kathy Ambush was born in Worcestershire, Massachusetts, where she grew up. Mother Shiguo Gladys Sato was married to her father Nelson William Ambush for 43 years before she was born.

Her grandfather Charles Gillette and grandmother Elizabeth Emma Ambush were her paternal grandparents. Benjamin, Charles, and Virginia Ambush, Kathy's paternal uncles and aunt, have all passed away.

Following the death of their mother in 1984, Ambush's father remarried, and she gained two step-siblings. He passed away on March 5th, 2012, the daughter said. Stephen, Benjamin, Karen Thande, and June Ambush are her biological brothers and sisters.

Kathy and her four siblings all ended up with university degrees. She attended Marion Central Catholic High School and then transferred to the largely black Lincoln University to earn a Business Administration degree.

The ambush technique has been used successfully in a wide variety of organizations. Time spent in them, however, is uncertain. Tuko claims that she occasionally worked as a Global Internet Entrepreneur on the side.

She has worked as a Community Relations at BankBoston and a director at the Massachusetts Advanced Studies Program at Milton Academy, among other places.

Valerie Wilson and Sydney Schuyler are Kathy's step-sisters. Since his early years in Worcestershire, Kathy's dad has been a dental technician.

In addition, he was a dedicated civil rights fighter who stood up to injustices like segregation and prejudice. Nelson's service in a wide variety of community groups united them in his cause.

The Dunbar Club, the Cub Scouts of the Mohegan Council, the William Monroe Trotter Club, and many others. His obituary states that he was also a prominent figure in the leadership of numerous congregations.

KATHY AMBUSH AND CLARENCE THOMAS' RELATIONSHIP

Friends introduced Ambush and Thomas in 1969. They started going out together a week after they first met. Ex-husband Ambush and his new wife married the knot on June 5, 1971.

Their wedding was celebrated at Worcestershire's All Saints Episcopal Church. In the wake of their marriage, the newlyweds uprooted and relocated to New Haven, Connecticut, so Clarence could begin his studies at Yale Law School.

On the other hand, their union wasn't always a bed of roses. From what Tuko has heard, Thomas's drinking issue only became worse over time, and it ended up destroying his marriage. According to The Root, he had an affair with Lillian McEwen during his first marriage.

The ex-Senate Judiciary Committee staffer stated that she witnessed Thomas' alcoholism during their affair. Thomas's spending habits, which included frequent trips to the bar to waste his student loan money, left him in a precarious financial position.

Soon enough, he saw the futility of continuing to drink, both for his health and his bank account, and so he stopped. In other words, he was still having money issues even after he stopped drinking. Thomas still owed money on a number of different accounts, including his college loans and credit cards.

Several eviction notices were served on him as a result of his financial inability to recover. Thomas, who ABC News says now works for Missouri's Junior Senator, reportedly uprooted his family and headed for the nation's capital after the senator's victory.

Unfortunately, his marital issues, alcoholism, and financial woes all followed him there as well. They were married for ten years when he filed for divorce from Ambush in 1981.

They haven't said why they broke up. The divorce was formalized in 1984, three years after the death of Ambush's mother.

KATHY AMBUSH'S SON WAS RAISED BY HIS FATHER

Jamal Adeen Thomas was born to Kathy and Clarence in 1973. Thomas obtained full custody of his adolescent son following the couple's divorce. According to what Jamal says, Thomas and his son get along fine.

As far as Jamal knows from what his father has told him, he and his mother have a healthy relationship.

Jamal attended the Virginia Military Institute and Fork Union Military Academy, but instead of following in his father's footsteps into the military, he decided to pursue a career in business and finance. He is currently employed by John F. Van Der Hyde & Associates as the Director of Supervision.

Wells Fargo, Wachovia Securities, BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, and more are just a few of the companies where he has worked in the past. Similar to his mom, he currently resides in Richmond, Virginia.

Regarding Clarence Thomas

In 1991, Clarence Thomas became the first African American to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. He's spent the last three decades as a Supreme Court justice. His conservative beliefs, however, led to much criticism after his appointment.

Even worse, he nearly lost this high-profile position because of a scandal involving allegations of sexual harassment made by a certain Anita Hill. Thomas flatly refuted the allegations.

According to the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of Bill Cosby in the year 2020, Hill's allegations were unproven due to a lack of proof.

Virginia Lamp, a lobbyist and adviser to Republican Congressman Dick Armey, became Thomas' second wife in 1987. Thomas's grandnephew, Mark Martin, was adopted by the newlyweds in 1997, and they reared him as their own.
