How the world has been affected by the viral video of my nudity: Safara'u

Safara'u, a young musician from the north of Nigeria, has discussed how a video of her stripping off startled the world.

The naked Safara'u video, which was included in the Arewa24-produced Kwana Kwana'in program, became viral in recent months.

Her removal from the program by the movie's creators following the publication of the video forced her to take up music.

Even though she claims that she is informing the populace, her songs are stirring up controversy because it appears that they are defiling morals.

In a special interview with BBC Hausa, Safara'u described how the film was made public and named the people she believes were responsible.

The young lady claimed that after the incident, she went through a terrible period in which she did not leave her house for three months and was even stoned when she walked by somewhere.

Her mother was from Borno State, where Safara'u claimed that the settlement was what led them to Kano, while her father was from Yola. She also attended school in Ibadan, Oyo State, and then started secondary school when she got back to Kano.

Some people say I am a gay man.

She said that a lot of people thought she did it to send the video to a gay friend, while others thought she sent it to her boyfriend.

"I make videos like this all the time and save them on my phone for fun or other reasons, and I know that 70% of women do the same," Safara'u said.

She said that she doesn't know who shared the video, but she thinks it was her friends or people she was with at the time because she often lets people use her phone to make calls.

She said that all of her relatives told her that this was her fate, and she accepted it, but the people in the town cursed her and called her a whore.

How I got started in the music industry

Safeeya Yusuf, who now goes by the name Safa, said that she has loved singing since she was a child. This is why she has gone back to the field.

She also said that she writes her own songs, but if she makes a mistake, the person they work with, Mr. 442, tells her what to do.

The singer said that she sings with men because she hasn't found a woman to sing with yet. She sings with Mr. 442 because they've been friends for three years and have a good relationship.

Safeeya said that she wears small clothes because she feels more comfortable in them than in clothes that make her body hurt. Her father was a soldier, so she grew up in military barracks.

My parents don't give me any trouble.

Safara'u said that her parents don't give her any trouble because of the song she just started and the movie she did before. Let's say I'm careful about everything I do. She said that the song "Inda ass" is one of her favorites.

She also said that the Hisbah Board, which had asked her to speak, didn't know about this conversation because social media only spread rumors about it.

I want to be like Davido

The actress said she didn't quit acting, but she did take a break to focus on music.

She said that she and her music partner Mr. 442 want to start a long-term film that they will make themselves.

Safara'u said that her biggest dream in life is to become as famous as singers from the south of Nigeria like Davido and Burna Boy and to win the world music Grammy award. "We in the north have never seen someone from the south go," he joked, "but you will see them called Tiwa Savage, P-square, Rikado, and others".

The actress also said she wants to get married, but she doesn't trust men because they make her feel scared.

She said that she will get married when the time is right.
