Best of P Square Peter and Paul Okoye are identical twin brothers who form the R&B group P-Square. Via Square Records, both produces and distributes its albums. They agreed to a record deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik label in December 2011. They agreed to a record distribution contract with Universal Music South Africa in May 2012.
A modest Catholic school in Jos, Nigeria called St. Murumba secondary school is where P-tale Square's all began. Peter and Paul, who are identical twins, joined the music and drama club at their school, where they started singing, dancing, and imitating songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown, and Michael Jackson.\
Afterward, they started an acapella group named "MMMPP" (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter, and Paul). They started break dancing and founded the group "Smooth Criminals" in 1997, taking cues from their musical hero Michael Jackson. The group "MMMPP," afterward renamed "MMPP," was stripped of M Clef. They quickly became well-known performers in the city of Jos, where they appeared at events like school festivities and other gatherings thanks to their creative ability and exact dance routine.
Peter and Paul went back to music school later in 1999 to hone their keyboard, drum, bass, and rhythm guitar techniques. The soundtracks for several movies, including Tobi, Mama Sunday, Moment of Bitterness, and Evas River, were created by them.
Later in 1999, they submitted an application to study business administration at the University of Abuja. After its members transferred to various other universities, the Smooth Criminals split up. Afterward, Peter and Paul started their own group, variously dubbed "Double P", "P&P", and "Da Pees", before they eventually decided on "P Square".
They are managed by Bayo Odusami, also known as Howie T, the CEO of Adrot Nigeria Limited and a seasoned event organizer.
P-Square won the "Grab Da Mic" competition in 2001, and as a result, Benson & Hedges funded their debut album, Last Nite, which was published on the Timbuk2 record label. Three months after the publication of their debut album, P-Square received a nomination for "Most Promising African Group" at the Kora Awards. Eventually, they were named the "Best R&B Group" in the 2003 Amen Awards.
With their own label, Square Records, they released their second album, Get Squared, in 2005. Although still being managed by Howie T of Adrot Nigeria Limited, TJoe Enterprises promoted this record around the country. For four weeks straight, the second album's video occupied the top spot on the MTV Base chart.
All around South Africa, their fan base is expanding, with a concentration of ardent supporters in Cape Town in particular.
The following foreign performers have shared the stage with the group: Ginuwine, Sean Paul, Akon, and Busola Keshiro. P Square's members are now in Lagos.
They released Game Over, their best-selling album to date, before the end of 2007. 8 million copies have been sold worldwide.
Danger, P-fourth Square's studio album, was released in 2009. Collaborations with 2 Face Idibia, J Martins, and Frenzy are included on the album.
With cutting synths and a frog bass baseline reminiscent of an Eminem song, the debut single, "Danger," is a hip-hop tune. The presence of clowns and the actors' stumbling gestures in front of the camera, which are reminiscent of Eminem's humorous videos, serve to support this. They are particularly well-known for the twins' striking similarity to Usher Raymond, an American R&B superstar.
P-Square, who was in London for a concert at the Troxy on April 4, 2010, was chosen the Artist of the Year at the Kora Awards in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and they will receive a check for $1 million as the prize winner in Ebebiyin City.
On August 29, 2014, P-Square released a single tune called EjeAjo that featured top American artist T.I. The majority of the production and beat-making for the pair is reportedly handled inside. The band has encountered a lot of controversy due to their practice of using popular hits and western songs as samples in their music. They have talked about it a lot in interviews and in the lyrics to their songs.
Strictly speaking, P Square reconstructs the drum beats, chord progressions, or lyrics of the songs that they have sampled more than they actually cut the music into pieces and sample them straight into their composition. This explains why their sound has a very electronic feel. "Get Squared," "Game Over," "Danger," and other music have been used in this account, among others.
P-Square made news because they allegedly lost their cool when they learned that plans had changed midway through their performance at the Guinness Show, affecting both their performance and that of the following artist, 2 Face Idibia. One-half of the musical duo P-Square, Paul Okoye, was embroiled in a paternity scandal with Elshamah Igbanoi.
