DOGAWA, REPS MAJORITY LEADER, WAS ARRESTED ON KILLING ALLEGATIONS.
Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the leader of the majority in the House of Representatives, has been arrested by the police on charges that he was involved in the deaths of three people.
Doguwa is a member of the All Progressives Congress and is in charge of the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano State (APC).
Wednesday, police checked the arrest and said that Doguwa was taken into custody at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Reports say that the lawmaker is thought to have been behind an attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in his district, which killed six people. It was said that the INEC made Doguwa the winner of the election by threatening him with a gun.
Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who is the Police Public Relations Officer for the State Command, told journalists that the arrest was true.
"Yes, we have arrested the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, in connection with a murder case. "We currently have him in custody, and we are still looking into what happened," a police spokesman said.
Again, Kiyawa didn't give any more important information about the case, but sources said that the investigation is centered on Doguwa's alleged role in the attack on the INEC office.
