Naomi Judd remembered at her own funeral, which she had planned privately.

The country music icon Naomi Judd passed suddenly a week earlier, and hundreds of her friends and family gathered in Nashville on Saturday (May 7) to say their final goodbyes.

Country Insider said that the private service featured musical performances from gospel, rock, and country performers who sang songs that Judd had picked for them to sing. Ashley, Naomi's daughter, claims that the late singer had prearranged her funeral.

"She clearly desired this service. According to the publication, Ashley said of the funeral, which had an overarching theme of "earthly pain, turmoil, and uncertainty contrasted with the waiting mercies, peace, and understanding of Heaven," "She had it all written down, and so she took the guesswork out of it for us, and we thank her for that.

Other performers present included Ricky Skaggs, who performed "Talk About Suffering," The Imperials, who sang "Sweet, Sweet Spirit" with Naomi's husband Larry Strickland, and the Oak Ridge Boys, who told tales of their time touring with The Judds before performing "Farther Along" and "Amazing Grace." 

Vince Gill reportedly told the crowd, "I'm glad I don't have to sing "Go Rest High on That Mountain" today." He then sang "Drifting Too Far From the Shore" by the Stanley Brothers because Naomi asked him to.

Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead sang "Ripple," and then Guy Penrod, a gospel singer, sang "Knowing What I Know About Heaven."

Naomi's younger brother Mark gave a speech before her daughters Ashley and Wynonna took the stage together to honor their mom.

Brandi Carlile sang "Love Can Build a Bridge" at the end of the service. She was supposed to sing that song live at The Judds' induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame the day after Naomi's death. But Carlile had COVID and couldn't go to the ceremony because of it.

Naomi Judd died on April 30. She was 76 years old. Her daughters posted about their mom's death on social media, saying, "We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness." We are in pieces. We are going through deep grief...
