Nkem Owoh is a comedian and actor from Nigeria. For his performance in the Nigerian film "Stronger than Pain," he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008.
Nkem Owoh was born in Enugu State, Nigeria. He attended the University of Ilorin to study engineering after finishing primary and secondary school. Owoh started appearing in several television and film productions while he was still a student at the university.
Owoh appears in the 2003 film Osuofia in London. He is also well-known for his performance of the song "I Go Chop Your Money," which is about advance fee theft. The song was included in the film The Master in which Owoh portrays a charlatan. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission banned the song.

As a consequence of a seven-month police investigation known as "Operation Apollo," Owoh was apprehended in 2007 in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Bijlmermeer area in the Amsterdam Zuidoost district).
When the police invaded the event and detained 111 persons on suspicion of lottery fraud and immigration breaches, Owoh was detained while doing a musical performance. Afterward, Owoh was set free.
In November 2009 Owoh was kidnapped in eastern Nigeria. His captors sought a ransom of 15 million nairas. Owoh was freed after his family allegedly paid a ransom of 1.4 million Naira.
