Court Dismisses Senator Binani's Lawsuit Against Adamawa Elections
The High Court in Abuja has dismissed the case filed by APC's candidate for governor of Adamawa state in the recent election, Aisha Binani.
Senator Aisha Binani filed a lawsuit challenging the victory of Governor Ahamdu Fintiri of PDP in the election.
She went to the court asking the court to confirm her as the elected governor of the state as the commissioner of election of the suspended state, Hudu Yunusa-Ari announced earlier, illegally.
Before that, Binani filed a lawsuit asking the court to prevent the National Electoral Commission (INEC) from canceling Hudu's announcement.
However, at the High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, Justice Inyang Ekwo rejected the request.
If it is to be remembered that Hudu's illegal announcement made INEC suspend him and order the security forces to investigate him, which made him go into hiding.
INEC has already disclosed the announcement he made while the election results were being collected, and said that it is not his jurisdiction to announce the election results.
After collecting the results of the remaining 11 local governments in the election, the official for collecting the results of the Adamawa state governorship election, Prof. Mohammed Mele, announced that Governor Fintiri of the PDP was the winner.
