Deasia Watkins I killed, cut off the head of my 3-month-old baby – Mother confesses
An American citizen from Ohio has admitted to killing her own daughter and chopping off her head.
Deasia Watkins, a 22-year-old woman, confessed over the weekend when she entered a guilty plea in front of a Hamilton County Court.
According to WLWT TV, Watkins, who is thought to be mentally disturbed, is reported to have committed the offense in March 2015 in the US.
According to David Prem, an assistant prosecutor for Hamilton County, the mentally ill woman was accused of stabbing and beheading Jayniah Watkins, who was just three months old.
The prosecutor stated, "Watkins used a huge kitchen knife to stab her daughter at least 15 times before severing her head.
"She then put the knife in her daughter's hand to make it look like the infant committed the crime,
"Watkins was discovered bloodied and pretending to sleep while lying in a bed.
Before the murder, family members claimed that she was behaving erratically and discussing demons.
The prosecutor noted that authorities discovered the decapitated baby girl on the kitchen counter in the home of an aunt who was her temporary carer. "Social workers placed little Jayniah in her aunt's care, and authorities warned her to keep Watkins away from the infant, but she managed to move into the home regardless," the prosecutor said.
I loved my kid very deeply, said Watkins, who admitted guilt.
"Yes, it's true, but no matter what anyone says, I loved her."
Attorney Perry Ancona declared in his decision that "nothing positive came out of this case.
It was quite gory. It's a really emotional situation—emotional for her, emotional for the family who was present.
It is simply devastating.
"Court records indicate Watkins had a postpartum depression diagnosis and was taking medication for it."
However, Ancona imposed a 15-year prison term on the defendant.
