Ganduje has established a committee to hand over power to his successor, Abba Gida-gida
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has agreed to form a 17-member committee to hand over power to his successor.
Also, Ganduje has agreed to form a sub-committee with 100 members which will be released information from various ministries and agencies of the Kano State government.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs of Kano State, Malam Muhammad Garba, made the announcement while talking to the media in Dabo.
Malam Garba said the appointment of the committee followed the approval of the State Executive Council during its weekly meeting held at the council hall in Kano Government House.
The statement said that the elected governor of the state is expected to appoint three representatives to the 17-member executive committee.
He said the committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji has members including the Chief of Civil Service, the Attorney General, the Law Commissioner, the Information Commissioner, the Environment Commissioner, and the Trade and Industry Commissioner.
Others include the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, the Commissioner for Local Government, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, the Commissioner for Finance, the Commissioner for Education, the Director-General, Office of Land Management, the Director-General for Research and the Managing Director, Planning - Urban planning and others and the National Development Agency.
While the Secretary-General for Research and Political Affairs, REPA will be the secretary of the committee.
Malam Garba stated that the executive committee will work in unity with the aim of writing and submitting the final report on the transfer of power within three weeks.
The Commissioner stated that the Transitional Executive Committee has been instructed to start the transition plan and document the achievements made during the two terms of office of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
He said the committee will also receive and evaluate reports from government departments regarding major achievements, including activities and plans that are ongoing in relation to the level of implementation of the Budget and others from May 25 until now.
Malam Garba pointed out that the committee has been entrusted with coordinating and managing the activities of the sub-committee on the transfer of power, collecting and compiling their report, and writing and submitting the report on the transfer of power to the next government within four weeks after its inauguration.
He said Governor Ganduje will inaugurate the committee on Tuesday at 2pm at the Africa House conference room in the Kano Government House.
