How Gunmen kidnapped 100 children and Women in Zamfara
More than 100 children and women are suspected to have been kidnapped by bandits from villages in Zamfara and Katsina states.
Reports indicate that the attackers abducted the people in some villages on the highway Gusau to Funtua on the border of Zamfara and Katsina states.
A resident of Wanzamai village in Zamfara State, Sani Wanzamai, told Focus News Hausa, Aminiya that the bandits kidnapped at least 80 children from the village and at least 20 people from Kucheri village in the attack.
Sani Wanzamai said the bandits also kidnapped some people from Yankara village from Katsina State during the attack on Thursday, 15th of Ramadan, 1444 Hijriyya.
Aminiya reported that the village of Wanzamai in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State has been attacked by bandits in recent days.
According to Sani Wanzamai, "The children were kidnapped after they were looking for ice in the forest; and the older ones, including women, were taken from the farms where they went to work because of the rainy season.
"Unexpectedly, the bandits ambushed them and abducted them through the forest.
"The abductors have not yet called, and the phones of the adults who were kidnapped have been called, but no one has been found inside."
By the time this report was sent, our correspondent did not hear from the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police, CSP Muhammad Shehu because the officer's phone was switched off.
