Security has improved under Buhari's rule - Presidential Palace
The presidential palace of Nigeria has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will leave power when the country's security and economy have improved more than what he had in 2015 when he took office.
The President's spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said this during an interview with Channels Television on Monday night.
On May 29, the president will step down after completing his second term.
Critics allege that the country's security system has deteriorated under his rule, as a result of his alleged selfishness in the appointment of positions, especially in security, instead of looking at the merits, or the system of sharing the positions of the federal government.
Adesina defended this action by saying that the appointment of the chief security officers is based on merit because according to him the security sector should not be politicized in the appointment.
Mr. Adesina said that no matter what people say, Buhari will leave Nigeria at a time when the country is better than he found it in 2015.
