 The Deputy Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, said that he declared the APC candidate as the winner of the governorship election in order to save the democratic process.

 Hudu said that he acted according to the authority given to him by the electoral law as the chief officer for collecting election results in Adamawa state, as reported by The Nation newspaper.

  His background is contained in a four-page letter he wrote and handed over to the Inspector General of Police from where he was hiding.
