Buhari Appoints New Adviser on Security Affairs
In order to ensure that Nigeria continues to hold important positions and to allow him to finish his term as the chief officer of the International Police Department (INTERPOL), President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the former Deputy Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Garba Baba Umar, as the senior advisor on security related to international police cooperation and the fight against terrorism in the office of the Minister of Police Affairs.
In approving his appointment, President Buhari, as quoted by his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu on Thursday, cited the example of how Nigeria extended the tenure of former AIG Kamal Subair (Retired) after His term of office will end in 2018.
Also, Buhari said, AIG chief Umar has helped Nigeria a lot in different ways.
With the hope that in the one year that is left to him, he will be more determined and motivated, he will be more diligent in getting Nigeria anti-terrorist equipment, controlling the borders, curbing terrorism and terrorists in the country. , helping to ensure that Nigeria gets more important positions in the international police department that is INTERPOL and also involve Nigerians in it.
AIG Garba Baba Umar's term of office will end in November 2024, and now he has become the chief adviser on the security issue that will start on May 16, 2023.
