Congress Presidency: Why APC Is Trying To Appoint  Bola Tinubu

Last weekend, there were strong signs that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, is interested in who will be the President of the Senate. This is a very important decision, especially since his election is being challenged in the electoral court.

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the former Senate Minority Leader and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, are the main candidates for Senate President. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Repudiator of the Senate, and Mr. Dabe Umahi, the outgoing Governor of Ebonyi State, are also still running for Senate President.

At the same time that Oshiomhole and Umahi said they would run for office, there was an attempt to change the rules of the senate so that senators could run for higher positions. This opened the door for the former governor of Edo state, who Tinubu is thought to like more.

This will be Oshiomhole and Umahi's first time in the senate room.

Reports say that the APC has given the Senate leadership race to the South-South region, while the North-West region will send an assistant.

Tinubu's promise to government employees

Will history repeat itself when the 10th House of Representatives is chosen?

Under the Senate's current rules, they can't run for office because only a former senator can take a senior position in the House.

But a knowledgeable source said that the APC governors could leave Umahi if Oshiomhole ran for office.

It turned out that the president-elect and his close friends were looking for a candidate they could support because they were worried about how the presidential election hearing court might rule on the cases against Tinubu's loss.

Many people have said that Tinubu's group has asked a trusted friend to become president of the Senate so that if the presidential election on February 25 is overturned, his friend will be acting president for 90 days.

"People are worried that the court might throw out the election. "If the court throws out the election, the President of the Senate will have to keep working for 90 days," a source told the media.

In the meantime, the committee of the APC Governors' Association that was set up is discussing how to follow the system for accepting and rejecting leadership positions in the National Assembly. This committee sent a report to the president-elect about the state of the APC party.

Reports said that Tinubu asked for the group to be set up because some governors wouldn't agree to a joint plan to give other people the jobs of presidents of the National Assembly.

A source says that the governors who are against this have said that they will talk to the party leaders if the rules aren't followed when the Federal Council leaders are chosen.

The source went on to say, "The President-elect was about to finish his plans to appoint a man to lead the Senate when the governors stepped in and promised to work for the party to support the second man." at the start of the 10th National Assembly, in the hall of parliament.

"The president-elect doesn't want to start his term with a crisis that could keep him from doing his job. He has asked the governors' association to set up a group that will come up with a way to accept the president that everyone will agree on. the guests will talk about."

A person close to one of the governors said that the report will be turned in on Monday.

Tinubu didn't agree with the plan of some important senators from the South-West zone to get the leaders of the 10th parliament by using the pick-and-roll method.

Many sources have confirmed that the senators who see themselves as Tinubu's right-hand men have been working day and night to convince him to use the pick-and-roll method to choose the presidents of the 10th Senate for the two elected senators.

The source, who is from the southwest region, is worried that the position of the senators could make it harder for the APC party to be accepted in the parliament hall on the day that the new leaders will be brought in. This is because there is a chance that the senators will be re-elected for a second term.
