COUNCIL OF ELDER: Tinubu stated that a Christian should be Speaker of the House because he and I are both Muslims - Shettima

The Vice President-elect, Kashin Shettima, revealed why the APC, Tinubu, and he decided to accept Godswill Akpabio as Senate President.

He stated that President-elect Bola Tinubu has a deep idea and vision that a Muslim should not be Senate President.

When Tajuddeen Abbas and his team visited him on Friday, Shettima explained that it is not necessary to say that the President, Deputy, and Speaker of the House of Representatives are all Muslims and that the President of the Senate is also a Muslim.

He also stated that Tinubu will not repeat the mistakes done by Jonathan and Buhari - Shettima

Kashim Shettima, the Vice President-elect, has indicated that the Bola Tinubu administration will not repeat the mistakes made by the Jonathan and Buhari administrations in appointing the presidents of the Federal Assembly.

Shettima stated this on Friday, recalling the situation that led members of the Federal Assembly to vote for someone who was not wanted by the party.

He claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan has ignored his abilities to lead the country since the day Aminu Tambuwal was appointed Speaker of the Federal Assembly. He went on to say that this episode was the catalyst for the PDP's defeat in the 2015 election.

Shettima claimed that the outgoing President, Muhammadu Buhari, was unable to accomplish considerable achievements in his first four years in office because parliament presidents who were not preferred by the APC were elected.

Shettima stated this during a meeting with Tajuddeen Abbas and Ben Kalu, the APC members Tinubu wants to be Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Federal Assembly, respectively.

The meeting was held with a group of members who were committed to the party's pick for Congress leadership.

Members who did not support Abbas and Ben Kalu founded COPSA, which is opposing Abbas and Ben Kalu as well as the mother party, APC.

Among Abbas' detractors are the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, the Leader of the Rulings, Alhassan Doguwa, Sada Soli, Miriam Onuoha, and Muktar Betara.

Shettima stated that he is speaking with all of the candidates in order to overcome the differences.

"I will make every effort to contact all of the other candidates." My brother is Honorable Betara. You both originate from the same region and state. And we have an excellent working relationship. I first met him around two weeks ago. "I will continue to persuade him," Shettima stated.

I met with Idris Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the Federal Assembly, at 1pm today. We'll stay in touch."

"When Obasanjo lost his parliamentary seat, everyone saw how bad his first term was." Because of the misunderstanding. Not for nothing did Obasanjo overlook Aminu Tambuwal for the position of Speaker of the Federal Assembly at the time.

"Now there's Mariam Onouha, and there's tension between us." "I'll meet her."

Why We Say Sai Akpabio - Shettima for Senate Presidency

Shettima stated that the APC chose Godswill Akpabio to be the Senate President because they do not want it to be reported that the Senate President is also a Muslim.

"We want to avoid having a Muslim president, Muslim vice president, and Muslim Speaker of the Senate." And the Federal Assembly's Speaker is also a Muslim, proving that all religions are equal. If this is done, those who claim to be aiming to turn Nigeria into a totally Islamic state would be believed.

"That is why Tinubu had the vision to do justice by mandating that the President of the Senate be from the South-South and a Christian, not a Muslim."

At the end of his speech, Abbas promised Shettima that the 10th Federal Council will have a good relationship with the administration and will work with dignity.
