Early Years

Horacio Pagani was born in the city of Casilda, Argentina, on November 10, 1955. He is Luca and Maria Pagani's son. Luca was an Italian baker. Horacio went to college in 1974 to study industrial design at the National University of La Plata. Later, he went to the National University of Rosario to study mechanical engineering. Early on, Pagani made cars out of balsa wood. Some of those cars are on display in the Pagani store.

Early Career

Horacio became interested in engineering while he was living in Argentina, but he didn't think the country would be a good place to start a job in engineering. In 1977, he opened a store that was 80 square metres and called the "factory." He was the only employee, and his first task was to make high seats for a new bar in the area. Pagani designed and made an F3 racer when he was 20. In the early 1980s, he moved to Italy to follow his dream of making a supercar.

Lamborghini

Horacio did a good job of making the bodies of Renault's racing cars better. When he met Giulio Alfieri, the chief technical head of Lamborghini, he was hired to do simple tasks like sweeping. Pagani worked his way up through the company and became the chief engineer. In 1985, he built the Countach Evoluzione, which was "the first car made entirely of composite materials." When Lamborghini refused to buy an enclave to help make carbon parts for the Countach Evoluzione in 1987, Horacio took out a loan to buy his own enclave.

In 1991, Pagani quit Lamborghini and started his own company, Modena Design, which makes race cars out of carbon fiber composites.

Personal Life

Horacio and his wife, Cristina, got a divorce in 2017. They had two boys, Christopher and Leonardo, together.
