ISIS destroyed 605 bodies that were found in mass graves in Iraq.
The Iraqi government said that in the past two years, it has taken the bodies of 605 people killed by ISIS forces and buried them in mass graves near the main prison in the north of the country.
With the help of a martyrs charity, the Iraqi government's Ministry of Mass Graves changed the homes of people who had been affected by the terror of ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria when they took over many areas of both countries in 2014.
Since then, both sides say, ISIS forces have been taking prisoners from the Badush prison in northern Iraq, killing them, and putting their bodies in mass graves.
In a speech to the press in Baghdad, Dhiaa Karim, who was in charge of the team that opened the graves, said that it took them 2 years to finish, even though they were able to get the bodies of 605 people out of the graves.
He said that during their long stay in the city, they found 204 whole bodies and 401 body parts. They have already given the bodies and body parts to the investigation department so that their families can be found. So far, 78 people have been found.
Iraq said in 2017 that it had stopped ISIL from being a threat, but since then, big graves where terrorists buried the bodies of people they had killed keep being found.
