Joshua Beckford, a Nigerian, is the youngest student to ever attend Oxford University.
Joshua Beckford is now the university's youngest student. A Nigerian boy named Joshua Beckford went to Oxford University when he was six years old and finished the Department of History and Philosophy when he was only 14 years old.
Beckford was said to learn things quickly, even though he was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. He could read, write, and understand the alphabet when he was only 10 months old. Beckford could read well by the time he was two, and by the time he was three, he could speak Japanese. He is smarter than a lot of other people.
Joshua, unlike his peers, was tutored and began learning when he was only 10 months old.
Joshua Beckford was left on the street in London 48 hours after he was born. Knox and his wife took him in when he was a baby. Beckford is said to have been born in Nigeria.
His father, Knox Daniel, said he first noticed how smart his son was when he was sitting on his lap using the internet. "When I started telling him about the letters on the keyboard, I could tell that he was remembering and getting it." He said
Then, in 2011, his father wrote to the university and asked if he could push his son by enrolling him in a philosophy course for bright kids between the ages of eight and thirteen. Joshua was the youngest student they had ever agreed to accept. Even so, he got a good grade.
Joshua has also had a lot of success outside of school. He is the spokesperson for the National Autistic Society's Black and Minority (BME) program. He also helps the campaign reach its goal of showing how hard it is for Black people to get the care and services they need for autism.
Joshua has also won a number of awards, including "Positive Role Model of the Year" at the 2017 National Diversity Awards. Joshua is a Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network (BMAN) representative and a Low-Income Families Education (L.I.F.E.) Support Ambassador for Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa. He was born in the United Kingdom, so he also works for that country.
He also wants to become a doctor, and he has written a book for kids about Egypt.
