LEADER OF THE ASSEMBLY: 'We want the position of Deputy Speaker of the Senate, even if it ends' - North Central Senators

The North Central Region's senators-elect, who represent the states of Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Niger, have stated that they will only accept the job of Deputy President of the Senate.

When he called a press conference on Friday in Abuja, elected senator Ahmed Wadada made this statement on behalf of the other elected senators of the states mentioned above.

Wadada, a Nassarawa State resident and SDP-backed candidate, stated that this is their stance and that there is no retreating from it.

"We've gathered here to greet the newly elected president back from his trip. When the leaders of the parliament are chosen for each region or zone in this nation, we want justice to be served, we then said to him.

"Because we are aware that every zone is fighting to have the President, the Senate's Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the House Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives removed from their respective jurisdictions.

"So, we know that the President and Vice-President are products of the South West and North East."As a result, North Central is in a position where the Deputy President of the Senate is the only position it will accept.

"We have been on this for a while, and this is still our position as of today and tomorrow.

Senator Sani Musa, an APC member from Niger State, is the one we want to be handed to the Deputy President of the Senate.
