Buhari has frequently demonstrated his desire to cede control of the nation to the new administration.

There are 30 days until Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari officially cedes authority to the incoming administration on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

On May 29, when his second term ends, Buhari will transfer authority to the next administration headed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Although opposition officials are contesting the election results in court, Tinubu won the election held in February under the auspices of the APC, the party in power.

Buhari declared this week that he is sticking to his preparations to give over office on May 29.

According to reports, the Nigerian president called Sallah and Tinubu and wished them well.

Buhari, who recently made plans to visit his hometown of Daura in the Katsina state, has consistently stated his willingness to cede office even before that.

Last week, after accepting Sllah's greetings at his palace, Buhari expressed regret to "those he has wronged."

Tinubu made his almost month-long trip from Europe back to Nigeria last week.
