Soldiers Rescued 2 Chibok Girls After 9 Years In The Hands Of Boko Haram
Two girls who were kidnapped in April 2014 from Borno State's Chibok Local Government were freed by Operation Hadin Kai soldiers.
Nine years ago, as students were taking their senior school exams, Boko Haram militants stormed their school, prompting this rescue.
Esther Marcus and Hauwa Malta, both 26 years old, were the victims. On April 21, 2023, soldiers found them in Lagara, a Boko Haram stronghold in Sambisa Forest.
With the most recent recovery, there are currently 125 kidnapped girls, including 107 who were freed by terrorists in 2018 and another three who were saved by the military in 2019 and another two in 2021, and another eleven in 2022.
Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the commander of Operation Hadin Kai, stated that "94 have not yet been identified."Esther and her 1-year-old daughter were saved. The commander said that it took eight months and ten days to free Hawa Malta and that she gave birth to a kid at the Seven Div Health Center ten days after their rescue.
The attack the army carried out in the North East region resulted in the deaths of more than 70 people who were thought to be terrorists.
According to the director of security information services, Major General Musa Danmadami, more than 140 terrorists were also detained during that time, and several weapons, including landmines, were discovered.
