The federal government demands 30 billion naira from the Facebook
The National Marketing Commission has been given permission by an Abuja-based Federal High Court to summon Meta, the proprietor of the sizable social networking site Facebook.
The agency had petitioned the court, requesting that the corporation pay 30 billion naira for violating Nigerian advertising laws, and the court granted their request.
The summons will be delivered directly to the American offices of Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
According to the National Advertising Agency, it is unlawful and against the law for the corporation to run adverts on its website in Nigeria without first receiving permission from that agency.
The agency further asserted that the majority of the advertisements published on Nigeria's Facebook page are at odds with the country's culture, the laws of the constitution, and the opinions of its people.
