Early Years

Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 13, 1953. His real name is Timothy Alan Dick. Tim was raised with his five other brothers and sisters. His father was a real estate agent, but he died when Timothy was 11 in a car accident. Two years later, his mother got remarried, and she took her kids to Michigan to live with her new husband. The new husband of his mother already had three children, so there were now nine children in the family.


Allen quickly got interested in theatre and drama when he went to high school. After he learned how to play the piano, he also became a good performer. Tim Allen would later do well in the entertainment business, but he didn't study acting or comedy when he was in college. He went to Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University. He got his Bachelor of Science in Communications from Western Michigan University in 1976.
