We will not make an agreement with armed people - Burkina Faso
The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso has abandoned talks with the insurgents who are in control of the country's regions as the government palace reported that about 40 people were killed in new attacks.
Apollinaire Kelem de Tambela told the National Assembly that we will never have a negotiation session, starting from the issue related to the areas of Burkina Faso, or its sovereignty, where he added that the country's government intends to double the number of its workers -head of the VDP group to 100,000.
His words came shortly before the local authorities announced that an armed convoy was attacked on Saturday near Bourasso, which is near the border of the country with Mali.
The attack resulted in the death of around 20 people, most of whom were members of the VDP.
The local government did not give the number of dead but claimed that 18 attackers were wounded and arrested.
A security source confirmed the attack on the convoy, adding that the emergency response and airstrikes helped to kill about 30 terrorists.
The source also said that 20 people were killed in this area last Sunday when some suspected insurgents attacked Ouakara, a village 100 kilometers from Bourassa.
In 2022, the government of Burkina Faso returned to the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traore, who vowed to recover 40 percent of the country's territories that were in the hands of Al-Qaeda-linked armed groups and the IS group that they seized since the year 2015.
Traore also fired French troops who were deployed to help fight insurgents in several Sahel countries.
After the attacks that have been carried out since the beginning of this year, the military government announced last April that a general meeting of the army will be held.
Since 2015, the violence has killed more than 10,000 people, according to NGOs, and displaced another two million people.

Captain Ibrahim Traore assumed command of the Burkina Faso government in 2022. He vowed to recapture 40% of the nation's regions that had fallen into the hands of militant organizations with ties to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State since the year 2015.
Additionally, Traore dismissed French soldiers who had been sent to the Sahel region to assist in the war against militants.
The military government declared in April of last year that an army general conference would be conducted in response to the attacks that have been carried out since the beginning of this year.
