A terrorist attack killed 7 Niger troops in Diffa
At least 7 Niger troops were killed when their car hit a landmine in Diffa, which is in the southeast of the Republic of Niger and where jihadist groups are terrorizing the area.
On the country's radio, the military said that the blast happened around midnight GMT near a military base in Chetimari Wangou, which is 25 kilometers from the city of Diffa.
The statement said that two troops who went to a hospital in Diffa were taken there to take care of their health.
Lake Chad
Near the city of Diffa is Lake Chad, which is on the borders of Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad. This is where the ISWAP Boko Haram group lives.
In 2015, an international group to fight terrorism was set up by the lake's four countries.
