AC Milan mourns the death of the club's former owner
AC Milan football club has expressed its sadness over the death of Silvio Berlusconi, the club's "unforgettable" former owner who died on Monday at the age of 86.
In 1986, Berlusconi bought the football team from his hometown and turned it into one of the most successful teams.
Under his direction, AC Milan won eight Serie A titles and five European titles.
In 2017, he sold the club for 740 million euros to buyers from China.
Milan wrote, "AC Milan is very sad about the death of Silvio Berlusconi, a man who will never be forgotten. We also want to say sorry to his family, friends, and other people close to him.
In 2018, less than 18 months after his company, Fininvest, bought a 100% share in third-tier football club Monza, the former prime minister of Italy went back to the sport.
