Africa is trying to settle the war in Ukraine
During the visit of a group of African leaders who are trying to stop the war in Ukraine, blasts could be heard in the city of Kyiv.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and other African leaders arrived in Ukraine on Friday, June 16, to meet with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They will then go to St. Petersburg on Saturday to meet with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
They want to get the leaders of Ukraine and Russia to agree to a dialogue process that is run by diplomats.
Macky Sall of Senegal, Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, Azali Assoumani, the president of Comoros, who is in charge of the African Union right now, and top politicians from Uganda, Egypt, and Congo are all part of President Ramaphosa's group.
