Al-Shabaab fighters have killed 5 people in some of their attacks in Kenya

According to witnesses and police sources, Al-Shabaab militants beheaded some civilians in eastern Kenya, killing five people.

According to the police, the assault took place on Saturday night in Lamu's Juhudi and Salama villages, which are close to the Somalian border.

The attack was carried out by 20 to 30 assailants who were armed with knives and pistols, according to Hassan Abdul, a witness to the incident. Kill them all, some by beheading, some by cutting off their tongues.

Ismail Hussein, a local resident, claims that the assailants also stole food and other items before fleeing while firing shots in the air.

In a statement, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated group Al-Shabaab said that it had stormed Juhudi in Kenya, murdering six people and setting ten Christian homes on fire.

Al-Shabaab has been at war with the foreign-supported government of Somalia for more than 15 years.

It has also carried out numerous attacks in Kenya, where it killed 67 people in 2013, 148 people in 2015, and 21 people in January 2019 alone.
