Early Years
Francisco was born Mario Luis Kreutzberger Blumenfeld on December 28, 1940, in Talca, Chile. His Jewish parents, Anna Blumenfeld Neufeld and Erick Kreutzberger, had to run away from the Nazis during World War II because they were being persecuted. Don Francisco went to New York as a child to study, but he spent most of his time watching TV.
Sabado Gigante
When he went back to Chile, he decided to make a TV show for Chileans that was like all his favorite American shows. "Sabado Gigante" was born in 1962. "Sabado Gigante" is the longest-running variety show on TV. It has been on for more than 50 years and has had more than 2000 runs.
