Emefiele killed Nigeria's currency system — President Tinubu
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has provided clarification on the matter of Godwin Emefiele's suspension as the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
During an important visit to France, President Tinubun delivered this statement to Nigerians living there.
According to President Tinubu, Emefiele ruined Nigeria's banking sector. He explained that because of the various currency rates, people who resided outside of the nation were unable to send money to their parents and other family members.
"The financial industry is in disarray. Even though few individuals have migrated south, you yourself have ceased helping our impoverished parents by sending them money. Prices differ, but it's already over.
"The authorities are in control of the man. Regarding it, action is being taken. They'll work it out amongst yourselves, he replied.
"We are experiencing security issues locally. We must consider everything. Perhaps they are stoking the fire of insecurity in this way. President Tinubu stated, "We will overhaul the financial system; it will work for you.
Godwin Emefiele was suspended on June 9 and a probe into some of the accusations against him was also ordered by President Tinubu.
After he was suspended, the DSS detained him in Lagos and transported him to Abuja for additional inquiry.
As interim governor of the bank, Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi has already assumed control of the central bank.
