Father, 39, arrested for impregnating 13-year-old daughter
Men from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Mfon Jeremiah, who is 39 years old, on charges that he got his 13-year-old daughter pregnant.
Jeremiah was caught because his wife told the police about him. He lived in FIRRO Estate off Adesan, Mowe in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, who is in charge of public relations for the police in the state, said this in a statement on Friday. Oyeyemi said that the suspect was caught because the mother of the victim went to the Mowe divisional offices and filed a report.
The PPRO said, "The victim's mother told us that she found out her daughter was pregnant. When she asked the daughter who had slept with her, the daughter said it was her father." The woman was taken to the hospital, where it was established that she is four months pregnant. SP Folake Afeniforo, who is in charge of the DPO Mowe division, quickly sent agents to the suspect's house, where he was quickly arrested. During questioning, the suspect said he was the one who got his daughter pregnant, but he said he did it while under a spell.
"He told the police that he was dreaming about having sex with his wife, who he had been separated from for a while. When they checked, they found out that he was sleeping with her daughter."
Oyeyemi said, though, that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspect be sent to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department's anti-human trafficking and child labor team for further investigation and possible prosecution.
