Fuel Subsidy Removal: Federal Government to Provide Solar Power to Small Businesses

Engineer Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, who runs the Rural Electricity Development Authority (REA), said that the Federal Government is trying to give Nigerians access to solar power to make it easier for companies and homes to deal with the loss of fuel subsidies.

Ahmad said this right after he finished checking out the solar power project at the Ayegbaju International Market in Osogbo. He said that the Federal Government is giving solar power through the REA because there isn't enough energy.

He also said that the goal of the program is to give Nigerians clean energy from the sun so that they don't have to use engines that put out carbon monoxide-filled smoke that is bad for people's health.

He said that the Ayegbaju Market solar energy project is about 95% complete and is projected to produce 30kwp of electricity.
