Muslim countries oppose the burning of the Qur'an

Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other Middle Eastern nations have issued warnings that the burning of the Qur'an in Sweden by Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old man, has heightened tensions among Muslims worldwide. Momika, an Iraqi immigrant living in Sweden, was given permission by the police to demonstrate in front of the city's largest mosque while exercising his right to free speech and without security. He also tore and burned pages of the Qur'an. The man's attempt to provoke a disturbance, however, was later the subject of an investigation, according to the police. This occurs as this year's Hajj in Saudi Arabia is set to be completed by millions of Muslims.
