Peter Obi's lawyers have been dismissed by the court for wasting time at the hearing
The Presidential Electoral Appeals Court has reprimanded the lawyers of the LP candidate, Peter Obi, for wasting time and delaying the hearing of the election appeal.
The incident happened a day after the court warned the lawyers of possible consequences after they asked for an adjournment of the hearing on Thursday.
On Thursday, the court expressed its displeasure to the lawyers of LP and Peter Obi, because of the waste of time they created during the hearing of the appeal against the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 election.
The five judges of the court under Chief Justice Haruna Tsammani, expressed their frustration because their lawyers failed to organize the necessary steps to present witnesses in the court.
This happened a day after Peter Obi's lawyers asked for an adjournment, because one of the lawyers was sick and did not attend the court.
When the hearing resumed on Thursday, the court showed the lawyers a lot of frustration, because the lawyers failed to present the process and steps to present the evidence and witnesses to the court.
This led the court to pause for a few minutes, in order to give the lawyers under Awa Kalu an opportunity to assess the process of submitting evidence, witnesses and evidence in court.
After the hearing resumed, the court added that the copies presented by their lawyers are not correct. And they did not meet the conditions set by the court.
When the matter reached the court, the judges ordered LP and Peter Obi's lawyers to adjourn the hearing, to allow them to come and sit down and prepare the steps to introduce witnesses and evidence as the court has ordered.
One of the judges of the court, Miss Bolaji-Yusuf, told the lawyers that what they are doing is wasting the time of the court.
"Well today we didn't do anything. You just wasted our time. Because of the way you presented your evidence copy, it is a very complicated process. This can lead to confusion for you and the court."
