The fact that 70% of the 109 senators and 360 Federation members who support him in 2023 did not succeed in their bids to win reelection to office, according to Senate President Ahmad Lawan, is extremely concerning.

During the official opening of the National Institute for Parliamentary and Democratic Studies' (NILDS) Abuja Permanent Office on Thursday, Lawan expressed this worry.

President Muhammadu Buhari officially opened the NILDS permanent residence.

During his speech, Lawan voiced his annoyance at the manner the people who were treated unfairly by their members of parliament declined to re-elect them in 2023.

He stated that improving the activities and contributions of members of parliament is one of the things they would do to lessen the number of changes in members of parliament.

"It is unfortunate that we lost 70 percent of the senators and Federation members that the poor people refused to re-elect." Therefore, we must make measures to improve them for the new ones who will be here soon in order to lessen the likelihood of this happening.

Then, in order to receive additional information on parliamentary applications, he recommended both the general public and members of parliament register with NILDS.

President Buhari received praise from Lawan for his efforts in creating the institute.

If you recall, Lawan is also upset about how he was able to win the election despite the court barring him from running.

One of the most contentious decisions ever made in Nigeria will be the Supreme Court's decision to reinstate his candidacy.

One of the senators who won't be re-elected to Congress is Kabiru Gaya of Kano, a member of the APC who lost to Kawu Sumaila of the NNPP.
