The court jailed a bogus lawyer for 15 months in Kano

A guy named Zaharaddin Sani Maidoki was given 15 months of house arrest and therapy by a Muslim court in Kiru Local Government of Kano State.

The man, who lives in Kaduna State, was found guilty of the crime of being a lawyer by the court.

After the lawyer read him the list of charges, the man pleaded guilty without making the case more complicated.

Mai Sharia'a Abdulmuminu Nuhu Gwarzo, the judge of the court, set up witnesses to hear his statement about the crime he admitted to. The court used section 337 of 2000 of the laws of Kano State.

Zaharaddin said he was a lawyer at first, and then he said he was a writer from Kaduna State.

In the last session, the court sent a letter of request to the Kaduna State Bar Association (NBA), which told the court that the person is not a member and does not belong to their group.

Earlier, he said that he was a lawyer who helped people who were being accused of a crime.

Justice Abdulmuminu Gwarzo gave him a one-year prison sentence without the choice of paying a fine. He will also have to pay N20,000. If he doesn't pay, he will go to jail for three months.

The court also took away his writing book and work ID card. The judge told him he has 30 days to file an appeal if he doesn't agree with the decision.
