The Nigerian trade union threatened to go on strike Till Further Notice
next to the government's announcement that it will end fuel subsidies, the Nigerian Trade Union said that it would go on strike the next week.
After a meeting conducted by the organization in Abuja, the nation's capital, NLC President Joe Ajaero made the announcement.
According to Ajaero, the NNPC has been given until next Wednesday by the NLC to either reverse the nationwide fuel price rise or take necessary action.
It will have to be seen whether they will go on strike after the Nigerian government's pressure failed to lower the price of oil, he continued.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the newly elected president of Najeiyar, said during his statement at the swearing-in event on Monday that the government's payment of gasoline subsidies has ceased and that the subsidy is not up for debate in the budget for 2023.
According to Tinubu, his administration will invest the money on infrastructure for Nigerians and measures to boost the economy rather than paying the fuel subsidy.
Other regions of the country experienced higher pricing and protracted lines at gas stations as a result of the country's president's declaration.
